Promoting math in America through policy, practice and partnerships.

Mission Statement

We research and promote policies, practices and partnerships to improve math achievement for students of all ages by empowering a child's first teacher.

Our organization has been working quietly for a decade, but we want to help more mothers reach more students. We're recruiting moms (and dads!) who want to fundamentally change math in America for the better, for every student.

During the pandemic, many students lost ground in school, but math skills grew more slowly than reading. Together, we can help kids recover their math muscles. Growing back into strong students over the summer and next year doesn't have to be terrible! We'll help you set a plan and form partnerships - with teachers, other parents, and your family to make math come alive every day.

Small groups, kids helping kids, powered by parents bringing snacks. Math is essential, and growing in skill can be fun!

Policy

We are data scientists and policy experts. MOMS4MATH researches public data and conducts bespoke studies to find the best programs and practices to help all kids grow in math. Good policies come from good data! When people put kids first, good policies emerge. We can help you collect and interpret data, and bring the right people together to get clarity through conversations with students, parents and teachers.

Practice

We are mothers. We are also engineers, teachers, scientists, dancers, athletes and artists. We want to help other mothers teach their children math, through simple everyday experiences and conversations in the car, waiting for the bus, or choosing a cereal. Good math skills come from practice and open doors of opportunity. We want to prop these doors open for all kids.

partnerships

We are team-oriented. We know that teachers need help reaching every student, every day. We have volunteered in class as academic mentors, we have provided after-school tutoring, organized math competitions, and inspired leadership among young people. We can help you develop the math pathway that is right for your child in any school district, anywhere. (Many of us are military mothers.) Together, we can help America get an A+ in math!

About me

Thank you for caring about math in America. I'm Allison Krug, a military spouse and mother of two boys. Although I didn't grow up loving math, I wanted my children to have a good start in school. We talked about math in the stroller, in the market, in the car splitting a granola bar to learn fractions. As an epidemiologist, I know that education is foundational to good health. I want to help other mothers and kids enjoy building early experiences in math together.

Resources

These world-class math curriculum resources have helped thousands of students around the world excel in math and problem-solving. I am not sponsored by these organizations, and receive no compensation for sharing these terrific programs. They have helped my family grow, and can help yours, too.
